Replace Recipe Ingredient

The Replace Recipe Ingredient page allows you to search recipes that use a specified recipe ingredient and replace it with a new recipe ingredient. This page lets you search existing recipes for the occurrence of the recipe ingredient and return each recipe result as a row in a grid. You then have the option to enter the replacement ingredient and measurement for the row.

You can either enter the ingredient IDs, type a description and pick the ingredient from the popup list, or press the magnifying glass icon to search for an item. Once you enter both the original and replacement IDs, click Search.

A list of all recipes containing the original ingredient appears, showing the recipe description, the amount of the current ingredient that appears in it, and fields for you to set the amount of the replacement ingredient. For each recipe that you want to change, enter the quantity of the new ingredient in the Qty field. You may need to enter more than one measurement per recipe, depending on the recipe instructions. For example, salt may be added to a recipe at more than one time, requiring two separate measurements.

Click the Replace link for each recipe you want to change. None of the other recipes will be affected until you set the measurements and click Replace.

You can also enter the measurements for more than one recipe, then click Replace All to make the replacement in bulk.

Note: If you did not enter a replacement quantity, Replace All will still override the value with a new quantity of zero. Be careful to enter all replacement values before selecting this option.
