Setting the Offline Data Path

Overview

The offline data path determines where Newton will direct the files (meal information/program upgrades, etc.) that need to be manually transferred between the main machine and POS machines.

Main Machine Offline Data Path

  1. Login to Newton from the main machine.
  2. From the Administration and Maintenance menu, click on Cafeteria Setup and select the Cafeterias option.
  3. Select the cafeteria and click Edit.
  4. From the Setup Cafeteria window, select the Settings tab.

    1. Locate the Miscellaneous section and enter the Offline Data Path.
    2. Click Ok to save the changes.
  5. From the Administration and Maintenance menu, click on Serving Line and select the Serving Lines option.

If you have additional lines established for the cafeteria, you must setup the line disk(s) as well. This will allow you to use an external drive to record serving line meals. Steps 5-7 will guide you through the process.

  6. Select a serving line and click Edit.
  7. In the Edit Serving Line window, establish the Offline Data Path to an external drive. When you are done, click Ok.

Repeat the process for the other serving lines.

When you are done, click Close.

POS Machine Offline Data Path

  1. Login to Newton POS.

If a connection exception error occurs, click Close. The POS Main Menu will open.

  2. From the Newton POS Startup main window, select Setup Line.
  3. Enter the Offline Data Path or click the ellipsis to browse for the path. Click Ok to save the changes.
  4. From the Newton POS Startup main window, select Offline Retry.
