Step 2: Add Custom Wording to an Application

Modify the Wording of an Online Application

Select Setup, then click Custom Strings / Languages Settings from the drop-down menu at the top of the webpage.

To Enable A Different Language
Click Activate next to the desired language. Once active the language will be available to select and a new direct public link will be shown in the District area of the MSA admin web portal.

The 6 languages shown in the example below have already been translated. Anything added using the Add New option will show in English until translated.

You can translate manually (described below) or you can export the custom strings in xml format, translate in an enhanced text editor, and import again. We recommend keeping a backup of the working strings before making changes.

Edit the Wording of an Application

  1. Click on the blue Edit button next to the desired language. This will bring you to a one page view of your entire online application. Just about every line of wording in this application is editable.
Tip: Holding down your Control key on your keyboard and pressing the F key [Control + F] will allow you to search your whole application for key words of a section you are looking to edit. In Google Chrome, this will show in the top-right corner of your web browser.

  2. When you find a section you would like to edit, click the blue Edit button.

This will bring you to the Default Text of the language. You can always go back to this section and hit save, and it will overwrite any changes you have made.

3. Select Custom Text. Then, change what you want to be different from the default text. When finished, select Update at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Note: You can tell if a section has custom text by the header being red. Here is our example:

Note: If you make a change in English, you must also make the same change in any other language you enable.
