Edison Daily Operations (Home)
The daily Operations Guide is provided to take the user through the complete functions in Edison which includes meal planning, ordering, issuing, receiving, production, manufacturing, and completing physical inventory counts.
Open Day
In order to complete any daily operations, a date must first be opened.
- From the Home tab, select Open Day.
Select an operating day from the calendar by clicking on a date. Then, click Ok.
Dates appearing in red indicate the day has been closed. Dates appearing in green indicate the day is currently open. It is recommended that all daily tasks are completed and the day is closed prior to starting a new operating day.
Checklist
Daily operations are completed by using the ribbon at the top of the screen or the Checklist to the left of the screen. Some checklist items are completed daily, weekly, or monthly. Depending on system setup, some tasks will link you directly to a website (i.e., Check email, Check freezer temp). By hovering over a task, you can see the due date.
As system checklist tasks have been completed, a checkmark is placed in the box. Custom checklist tasks will need to be checked off by the user once complete.
Overdue Notification
When a checklist item is overdue, a clipboard with a warning sign will appear notating that the checklist item is overdue.
Close Day
Once all tasks have been completed for a day, the day should be closed.
- From the Home tab, click on Close Day.
- If more than one day is open, select the correct day you wish to close. Then, click Ok.

You must acknowledge that you have reviewed all daily operations and affirm that everything is complete and accurate to the best of your knowledge and /or abilities prior to proceeding.
You may be alerted if you are required to enter meal counts before closing an operating day and no served counts are present.
Reopen Past Day
On occasion, it may be necessary to reopen a past day in order to make corrections. This should not occur on a regular basis. In the situation where is occurs on a regular basis, the user should revisit the User's Manual.
- From the Home tab, select Open Day.
- Select a closed operating day and click Ok.
- You must enter a comment as to why you are reopening a past day.
Once necessary changes have been completed, close the day again.
If more than one operating day is open, you will be prompted to select the correct date to close. Then, click Ok.

If the user requests an override attempt, an administrator or additional high level role has the ability to accept or reject the override attempt. For more information on allowing and denying functions, refer to System Security in the Setup Guide section.
