Overview

Installing MSA Client on your system involves 3 steps: Downloading, Configuring and Installing.

To keep this page open while accessing links, right-click on the link and select Open Link in New Window or Tab.

To begin the installation process, you must have the MCS Admin Console and Application Server installed on your system.



Downloading the Software 

To access the download files you must have a Customer Connect account. If you do not have an account please check with your District's Heartland contact to determine if an account already exists for your District. If you are a primary Point of Contact, please submit a request to Support for the creation of an account.

  1. From Customer Connectlogin with your user name and password.

  2. Click the SUPPORT link and select Downloads.

  3. Click VIEW MCS DOWNLOADS.

  4. Locate and click on the MSA Client folder to open it.

  5. Select the Install xxx.exe file.

  6. Select Save to download the file to your system. Some browsers download files instead of giving you the option to save. (It is important to know where files are downloaded to on your computer.)

     


Configuring the Software

Setup the Connection Method in the Admin Console

If you do not know the server location or connection method, contact your IT department.

  1. Locate and open the MCS Admin Console by logging in with your user name and password.

  2. Locate and click on the Applications tab. Then, select the Connection Methods option.

  3. Select the software package being installed from the Application Name section then click Edit.

  4. Enter the Application Connection information and click Ok.



Installing the Software

  1. Locate where you have downloaded the file and double-click on the downloaded Install xxx.exe.file.
    Some systems may pop open a new security window when launching the file for the first time to confirm you are not a threat. If you would like to proceed with the installation, click Run.

     

  2. A setup window will appear. Click Next to begin running the setup process.

  3. You will then see a license agreement. Please read the statement and click I Agree if you accept the terms of the software license.
    XP users may have to download .NET Framework on their system (service pack 4.0).
    The redistributable version of .NET can be downloaded on a separate machine and installed separately if needed.

     

  4. Select a folder location to install the program on your local or network drive. Then, click Next.

  5. Select the Start Menu folder location to place the program shortcut. Then, click Next.

  6. Once the installation is complete, click Next.

  7. The Completing the MySchoolApps Client Setup Wizard window will appear. Click Finish to exit out of the setup wizard. MSA Client is now installed.
