Overview

Some states have custom plugins available that include specific reports required by the state. These instructions will guide you through downloading and installing custom plugins.

 

 

Because new releases can take some time to run, MCS Software recommends upgrades be performed at the end of the day and that
no users are logged in during the process.

If there is a report available in WinFSCA and you do not see that report in Newton, please notify us by submitting a case via
the Customer Portal.

 

 



Download, Installation, and Setup

Step 1: Login to the Customer Portal by accessing the MCS Software homepage and selecting Customer Login.

Step 2: Enter your Username and Password and click Login.

Step 3: Choose one of the Software Download links.

Step 4: Locate the Newton folder and click to open.

Step 5: Locate the Plugins folder and click to open.

Step 6: Choose your state or District plugin. Selection depends on which version of Newton you are running.


Louisiana Plugin

If you are running Newton 3.1.0.0, click on LouisianaCustomozation_Upgrade_1_0_2_1.zip.

If you are running Newton 3.5.1.0, click on LouisianaCustomizations_Upgrade_1_1_0_0.zip.
 

CCSD

If you are running Newton 3.1.10.0, click on CCSD_Upgrade_2_0_0.zip.

If you are running Newton 3.5.1.0, click on CCSD_Upgrade_2_1_0_0.zip.
 


 

Step 7: Login to Newton.

 

Step 8: Locate and click on the Administration and Maintenance tab and select Advanced Setup. Then, click External Plugins.

Step 9: In the External Plugins window, click the Add button. 

If you have an older plugin loaded, you may see "Error" as the status. This is due to the plugin and version of Newton not being compatible with one another.

 

Step 10: Locate and click on the correct XXXX_Upgrade_x_x_x_x.zip file. Then, select Open.

The Install Plugin window will appear notifying you of the plugin version you are about to install. Click OK to install the plugin.

You will receive a message stating the plugin is not compatible if the plugin you selected does not match your version of Newton.

 

 

You will see the plugin in the External Plugin window. Notice the status is "Not loaded." Click Close.

You must close and restart Newton to apply the plugin.

 

Step 11: Once you have logged back into Newton, locate and click the Administration and Maintenance tab. Then, select System Settings.

Step 12: Click on the Misc Values tab. Use the drop-down arrow under "Claims" to select to select your state's claim format. Then, click Ok.

Complete Steps 13 - 17 if you export your claims to your State.

Step 13: Locate and click on the Administration and Maintenance and select Cafeteria Setup. Then, click Cafeterias.

Step 14: Select a cafeteria and click Edit.

Step 15: Click the Schools tab and enter the State Code if it does not already exist. Then, click Ok.

If you do not know the State Code, you can locate the information in WinFSCA.

Step 16: Repeat the Steps 14 and 15 for each cafeteria.

Step 17: After you have entered all Sate Codes, click Close in the Cafeteria Maintenance window.


 Run Report(s)

Step 1: Complete the process for claims as noted in Reimbursement Claims - Creating a Claim.

Step 2: Locate and click the Reports and Letters tab and select Claims for Reimbursement. Then, click on Claim.

Step 3: User the drop-down arrow to select a Claim Period. Then, click Ok.

CCSD

Step 4: Select the type of claim you wish to view. Then, click Ok.

Export Report(s)

Step 1: Locate and click the Administration and Maintenance tab and select Advanced Setup. Then, click on Exports.

Step 2: In the Setup Exports screen, click the Add button.

Step 3: Select the Claim Export. Then, click Ok.

Step 4: In the Configure Export window, enter a description name for the export. Then, click the Setup button.

Step 5: In the Configure Claim Export window, complete the configurations. Then, click Ok.

  • Click the ellipses button and choose an export name and location to save the file to a local or network location.
  • Enter the Agreement Number (3-digit state ID).

Step 6: In the Configure Export window, click Ok.

Step 7: In the Setup Exports window, click the Close button.

Step 8: When you are ready to export the claim, locate and click the Utilities tab and select Export Data.

Step 9: Select the Claim Export and click Run.
