Clicking the Add button activates a new line under the existing Inventory categories. Enter a category name, select the receiving and storage bins, and select any business rules as appropriate.

Note: Inventory category names should indicate the type of product and where it is stored so that it is easy to tell where to find that type of product and how it should be stored. For example, "Bakery Products, Cooler" would hold bread that should be stored in the cooler, and "Vegetables, Freezer" would hold any frozen vegetables.

Selecting Inventory This Category causes items to appear when sites do their monthly inventory. Usually, high-use items like bread, milk, and kitchen equipment will not be inventoried.

Just-in-Time ordering allows sites to place orders for an item even when the warehouse does not have enough supply on hand at the time, without prompting the user to confirm the order.

The Inventory is Perishable option is used by Menu Planning and Production schedules. If the category is perishable, the on-hand and due-in quantities will not be used when generating orders.

When you are done, click Save. You can also click Cancel to undo your changes.
