This section will list the current application warning checkers and review validation that is enforced on the final Review Step of the online application. These checkers are not customizable and are in effect for your district by default. The table below describes the function of these validation checkers.
Name Of Checker | Validation Performed | Type Of Checker * | Applicant Can Submit Application? |
---|---|---|---|
Duplicate Applicant Name Check | Determines if there are duplicate applicants on the application. Duplicate is defined as 2 persons (student or household member) with the same name. The comparison is done by using the full name of both applicants, voiding punctuation/spacing and comparing them in a case insensitive manner. | Warning | |
High Income Check | Determines if the combined income reported on the application exceeds a high threshold of $100,000. In most cases this would not be valid and could indicate an error entering income on the application. | Warning | |
Household Address Incomplete Check | Determines if any of the household address information on the application is missing. For example not entering a city for the address would trigger this checker. | Informational | |
No Contact Information Provided Check | Determines if contact information was provided on the application. Contact information (phone number, email) is optional, but useful to collect. This informational checker will be displayed if they are not provided. | Informational | |
Not Enough Household Members Check | Determines if the application is missing household members and does not fall under one of these scenarios: Emancipated child with no non-student family members, only have foster children on the application, or if every student on the application receives SNAP/FITAP benefits | Critical | |
Optional Fields Missing Check | Determines if the applicant has failed to provide any of the following: school for a student, birth date, or gender. | Informational | |
Signer Is a Child Check | If the signer is an emancipated child below the age of 13 this is a warning check. If the signer is a child and does not have a birth date specified or | Warning/Critical | / |
Signer Is Not On Application Check | Determines if the application signer is missing on the application or has not been provided on the application as either a student or a household member. Due to the design of the application this should not happen, but this checker exists as an extra safety measure to prevent submission of an incomplete application. | Critical | |
Skipped Household Members Check | Determines if a non-student household member has not been entered on the application and has not entered the last 4 of the SSN for the signer. This is only valid if every student on the application is either foster or receives SNAP/FITAP benefits. | Critical | |
Student Is Not Expected Age Check | Determines if the student estimated age seems to match the grade level chosen for all students on the application. Standard ages are set in the web application for each grade and the student's birth date is compared against this using a range of +/- 3 years. If the age falls outside this range (based on the grade) this informational checker is displayed. This checker should help reduce data entry errors on birth dates. | Informational | |
Zero Income Total Check | Determines if the total income entered on the application is zero and the applicant has not entered a special circumstance such as SNAP/FITAP. | Informational |
Three Types Of Checkers
- Informational - these checkers are of low priority usually informational in nature. These are used to remind applicants of missing information that may be useful to provide, but have no effect on application process speed or status
- Warning - these checkers are of medium priority and usually indicate that important information is being omitted. These are used to alert applicants that not providing information may cause problems with application processing.
- Critical - these checkers are critical in nature and indicate vital information is missing. The applicant cannot proceed with submission of the application if triggered.
