Frequently Asked Questions

(tick) I see critical alerts when I login to logging into the system. How do I handle this?
It is normal to see critical alerts once the End of Year process has been completed.  This occurs because the system's Scheduled Jobs have not yet been completed for the new database.  The critical alerts will clear once the scheduled jobs have been completed (typically at midnight), or you may choose to manually run run Scheduled Jobs manually.

Run Student Information System Import File

Student Importers allow you to import your Student Information System (SIS) file into the system.  Due to the number of changes made during the End of Year process, you will need to must run the Student Importer to establish MSA Client for the upcoming school year.  Student data may be imported as simple text files or through SQL Server databases.

Typically it is easiest to run the student import at Utilities | Miscellaneous | Import Student Data. Follow the prompts and approve the import if asked for approval. After this first-time import, the related Franklin/MSAClient scheduled task should import the list nightly on its own. We can repeat the import manually at any time during the school year as needed. This manual import process is also the primary solution when the student import scheduled task fails due to a “suspicious import” mentioned below.

...

Info

The system is designed to protect you against any mass changes that seem suspicious in order to protect the integrity of the system.

When running a student data import in MSA Client, you will receive a warning message if the import results in changing, adding, or inactivating 10% or more of the total students already in the database. You may confirm the changes and continue with the update process.

If the import results in adding 20% or more of the total students already in the database, an authorization request must be completed and released by an authorized HSS Support representative.

...

The proper procedure is to submit a request case with comments to Support prior to making changes. This will allow a Support representative to schedule a time resulting in the least impact on your staff and their daily operations.
